NEW YORK, NY - April 14, 2010 - The Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference released its weekly softball report for games from April 5-11.

2010 BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT - RESULTS

Semifinal #1 - #1 St. Joseph's 59, #4 New Rochelle 28

St. Joseph's opened the game on a 12-1 run and never looked back in thewire-to-wire victory.  Joannne Crimeni and Joanna Marciniec scoredeight points each to lead the balanced St. Joe's attack that saw11 different Lady Bears record a field goal.  Elizabeth Johnston, six-time Rookie of the Week, scored a game-high 13 points to lead the Blue Angels and Alianna Cordova pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.

With the game tied 49-49 midway through the second-half, AlbanyPharmacy went on a 15-0 run breaking open a game that had 10 ties andfive lead changes.  Kelly VanValkenburgh poured in a game-high 33 points, Amber Batzold added 16, Alex Oaks grabbed a game-high 18 rebounds (10 offensive) and Katie McCormack had 16 rebounds to lead the Panthers.  ShirFuchs tallied 28 points and Lauren Kempin nearly had a triple-doubleamassing 13 points, 11 rebounds and eight blocks to lead the Maccabees.

St. Joseph's opened the second half with a 9-0 run extending a 34-29 advantage at halftime to their largest lead of the game at 14.  Albany Pharmacy clawed back into the game and finally took their first lead, 53-52, with 58 seconds left.  Ashley McQuillan was fouled and hit two free throws to give St. Joseph's back the lead and made a steal on the ensuing possession and sank two more free throws.  With five seconds left, Albany Pharmacy was unable to advance the ball past half court to attempt a tying three-pointer.  McQuillan finished with 20 points, shooting 9-for-10 from the charity stripe, and was named Tournament MVP.  Kelly VanValkenburgh led Albany Pharmacy with 15 points and Amber Batzold added 13 points with nine rebounds.
